Summary
Passion fruits from Ecuador have been found to contain high levels of pesticide residues, including methamidophos and acephate, which are not authorised for use in the EU. The levels of these substances exceed EU permitted limits, posing a serious risk to consumers. The contaminated passion fruits were distributed to other EU countries, including the Netherlands.
