EU alert · RASFF Risk: Serious New Nuts, nut products and seeds
Aflatoxins in raw peanuts from the United States
Validated by the European Commission: · Ref. 2026.9028
Summary
The EU has issued a serious safety alert for raw peanuts imported from the United States because laboratory tests found aflatoxin levels (total 19.6 µg/kg and aflatoxin B1 17.1 µg/kg) that exceed the permitted limits of 4.0 µg/kg and 2.0 µg/kg respectively. The alert was notified by the Netherlands, which reports that the product is not being distributed in the country.
A RASFF notification means that a risk was identified and shared between national authorities. It does not necessarily mean the product was sold in every country — check the distribution list and the measures taken.
